Claire Mason thrives on learning and taking action. For over a decade, she’s pursued her passion for sustainability through evening studies, earning qualifications including a Graduate Diploma in Environmental Studies - and is currently in the midst of her Masters in Environmental Management. At thinkstep-anz, Claire works with clients to map out the next steps in their unique sustainability journeys.
Building meaningful relationships is at the heart of Claire’s role. She connects with clients, industry partners, stakeholders, and colleagues, celebrating shared successes along the way.
With a background in the building supply industry, Claire brings a wealth of experience. She earned Plumbing World’s first national Environment and Sustainability award in 2020 and spearheaded a PVC recycling programme that expanded to seven locations. She has contributed to two Plastics NZ working groups tackling construction and demolition waste challenges and received regional awards for management excellence and persistence in 2023.
Claire’s commitment to sustainability goes beyond her professional life. As a mother, she’s driven to create a positive impact on the environment, people, nature, and business. She also volunteers at Wellington urban eco-sanctuary Zealandia Te Māra a Tāne on their night tours, walking about in the dark spotting kiwi, tuatara, pāteke, ruru, wētā, and all sorts of other birds and insects.
