New Zealand Recycling Week webinars

New Zealand Recycling Week is all about education for waste minimisation, recycling and encouraging conscious procurement and disposal of items and packaging, to create a waste free future.

Launched in 2013, an ever-increasing number of organisations (schools, corporates and everyone in between) are having fun and learning by taking part in the week. Each day of Recycling Week features an easy-to-remember theme that will challenge and encourage you to re-think your waste minimisation and recycling behaviours.

thinkstep-anz were the webinar hosts for the week. Recordings of each webinar are available below.

Nicole Sullivan, thinkstep-anz's Head of Strategy and Impact, Australia, was the guest for Procurement Monday.

Any item that is recycled helps reduce the need for new products to be made from virgin material. This Procurement Monday only purchase what is made able to be recycled, reused or repurposed.

Nadine Nagel and Michal Garvey from Foodprint, and Sue Coutts from Zero Waste Network, were the guests for Waste-Free Tuesday.

Awareness of how much unnecessary waste goes to landfill every day is a powerful way to influence positive behaviour and reduce overall waste.

Greg Low from Reusabowl and Craig Burston from Will&Able were the guests for Reusable Wednesday.

Single-use products make up a significant amount of waste going to landfill, and a good proportion of waste found in our marine environment.

Rob Langford from The Packaging Forum, and Roderick Boyes and Liz Butcher from the Ministry for the Environment, were the guests for Rinse and Clean Thursday.

Contamination is any material present in the wrong recycling stream. Contamination causes issues at recycling facilities and contributes to recyclable materials ending up in landfill.

The guests for Reflection Friday were Jamie Henry from Junk2Go, Jeff Vollebregt from Upparel, Rui Peng from Critical Design, and Nathalia Gonzales from Reclaim.

Reflection Friday is a great opportunity to brainstorm and commit to new recycling initiatives for your office, classroom or home.
