Do your customers and stakeholders understand your sustainability work? These projects can be major investments that use technical language (LCA, EPD, Scope 3) – so it’s important they are well communicated!
In this webinar, Fletcher Building explains why it values Environmental Product Declaration (EPDs) and why it’s important that stakeholders understand how to use them. An EPD tells the environmental story of a product over its life cycle in a clear, transparent way.
Ferran de Miguel Mercader, Fletcher Building’s Sustainability Manager, joined Nicole Sullivan, our Head of Impact and Strategy Australia.

In the webinar we learned
What an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) is
An Environmental Product Declaration tells the environmental story of a product over its life cycle in a clear and transparent manner. It is science-based, complies with standards, is independently verified and publicly available. EPDs are often compared to the nutrition labels on food products. Learn more in our Need to Know.
Fletcher Building value EPDs
EPDs show a company is committed to transparent environmental data. For Fletcher Building this gives information that its customers, industry associations, suppliers and government regulators are looking for.
Stakeholders need to understand your sustainability projects
Fletcher Building worked with us to help explain their EPDs. It asked its stakeholders ‘What do you need to know?’ They grouped their audiences (marketing and sales teams, customers, etc.) and we developed information packs for each group. These were plain language documents that answered questions like ‘How can we talk with our customers about EPDs?’
