Umer is a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) expert with extensive experience in infrastructure and the built environment. He has a strong background in embodied carbon analysis, decarbonisation roadmaps and circular economy initiatives. Based in Melbourne, he has led Green Star submissions, developed sustainability assessment tools and advised on roadmaps to reduce scope 3 emissions.
At Lendlease, he worked on LCAs of buildings and carbon footprint reduction for major infrastructure projects, including the Melbourne Metro Tunnel and Stations project. Umer is a Life Cycle Assessment Certified Practitioner (LCACP), holds a PhD in Chemical Engineering from Monash University, and has published research on renewable fuels and chemical recycling.

He is active in the Materials Embodied Carbon Leaders Alliance (MECLA), a regular speaker at the Green Building Council of Australia and a member of the Australian Life Cycle Assessment Society (ALCAS).
Outside work, he enjoys spending time with his two daughters and exploring global cuisines. Originally from Pakistan, he values Melbourne’s diversity and the chance to experience its many cultural events and food traditions.
