Sam is an experienced, certified Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) practitioner who helps clients understand the environmental footprint of their products and identify where improvements can make the biggest difference.
He first joined thinkstep-anz in 2019 and contributed to the Green Building Council of Australia’s embodied emissions report, which helped put emissions from materials and construction firmly on the building sector’s agenda. Sam has also worked with clients across timber, packaging, concrete, aquaculture, recycling, electricity and other industries.
After time overseas, Sam has now returned to thinkstep-anz, bringing fresh experience from Europe. He completed a Master’s in Sustainability at Maastricht University in the Netherlands and worked as Sustainability Manager for FLSmidth, a leading provider of mining and cement equipment and technology in Denmark. In that role, he used LCAs to demonstrate lower-impact technologies and support sustainability reporting under the EU taxonomy.
Outside work, the Wellington native enjoys spending time in the New Zealand bush, appreciating native birds and getting involved in pest trapping and rewilding.
