Chris is a product and corporate sustainability expert with more than 20 years’ experience supporting organisations to understand and reduce their environmental impacts. He has contributed to more than 500 life cycle assessments (LCA), Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) and carbon footprint projects.
Before joining thinkstep-anz in Christchurch, Chris was Technical Director for the Americas of the Sustainability Consulting team at Sphera and shared his expertise as course instructor at Yale as well as by critically reviewing numerous LCA studies.
He helped define LCA best practise through his work on the ISO 14000 series of environmental management standards, contributing through the Society of Environmental Toxicology and Chemistry (SETAC) and the United States Technical Advisory Group (US TAG). Chris also co-chaired the American Center for Life Cycle Assessment’s (ACLCA) Technical Committee for many years, receiving ACLCA’s Lifetime Leadership Award for this work.
Chris is motivated by the desire to give future generations the chance of a liveable future. He believes sustainability must move beyond checking the box and become part of core business models, policy and everyday decisions.
His focus is on providing clients with science-based, accurate and actionable insights that support better products, stronger businesses and meaningful change across many industries in Australia, New Zealand and overseas.
Outside work, Chris is enjoying exploring his new home in Christchurch with his trilingual family, who speak a mix of English, Spanish and German. His hobbies include reading, listening to music (vinyl preferred) and going for walks with his dog.
