Introducing EN15804+A2 for construction EPDs

Environmental Product Declarations for construction products published after December 2021 will need to follow the new version of the sector-defining standard. Discover the key changes for industry, along with first-hand insights on the process from BlueScope, the first company in Australasia to publish EPDs under the new version in this webinar recording.

The EN15804 standard is used for all construction product EPD programmes in Europe, and is widely used in Australia and New Zealand and other countries. Therefore, the updated standard EN15804+A2 will be significant for EPDs published across these markets, including all EPDs published with EPD Australasia.

Explore the positive impacts of the new standard on the carbon-intensive industry with BlueScope's Sustainability Manager Philippa Stone, and Senior Technical Advisor of Sustainability, Laura Guccione. Gain a better understanding of the new requirements with Emily Townsend, thinkstep-anz’s Senior Sustainability Engineer, who led the EPD project for BlueScope.

Key changes with the updated standard

  • A wider set of environmental indicators, including six optional impact categories
  • Treatment of biogenic carbon at end-of-life is now a requirement
  • A more thorough data quality assessment to increase reliability of LCA data
  • New standard aligns EPDs with the European Product Environmental Footprint (PEF)
