Stakeholders increasingly expect more information about your business’s sustainability. Sustainability certification can provide these details. We helped Australian manufacturer Proline Steel achieve Steel Sustainability Australia (SSA) certification. We also worked with the Australian Steel Institute (ASI) to develop the SSA program.

Bill Younes, General Manager at Proline Steel, explained the work we did and how it has helped Proline improve its sustainability program, market its products and strengthen supplier relationships.

Bill joined Tori Wouters, our Sydney-based Sustainability and Systems Specialist. Tori explained how we developed the SSA program, and how programs like this improve the sustainability of whole industries.

Here's a preview of our webinar

In the webinar we learned:

Steel Sustainability Australia (SSA) improves the sustainability of the industry

Tori Wouters, our Sustainability and Systems Specialist, described how the SSA program rewards steel suppliers that have lower environmental impacts, are transparent, respect human rights, and are pursuing circular solutions.

The industry is changing and there is support available

Bill explained that the SSA program shows where and how businesses can become more sustainable. SSA also provides sustainability information and insights that small and medium businesses may not have in-house.

Third-party verification helps you show positive actions

Bill found that Proline Steel was already doing much of what the SSA Level 1 certificate required. Becoming third-party verified has helped the company market its products and services, particularly for Green Star projects.

Industry bodies drive change

Industry associations understand what their members need and can provide bespoke tools and support to improve sustainability across the industry.
