thinkstep-anz CEO Barbara Nebel has joined some of the world’s leading life cycle assessment (LCA) experts to write a book that demonstrates how to use LCA to make critical sustainability decisions.
The Power of Life Cycle Assessment: Data-Driven Decision Making for Environmental Sustainability explains what LCA is, as well as why and how it can be a powerful tool for organisations. The book delves into the essential concepts of LCA, making it accessible to both novices and experienced sustainability practitioners. It comprises tools and techniques, examples of how to develop an LCA, how to apply it and a set of ‘golden rules’ to consider when embarking on an LCA study.
‘It is great to have been a part of this project that introduces LCA as an effective approach to making more sustainable decisions. It answers questions like how LCA can be applied, what your organisation can achieve and if LCA is even the right tool for you,’ Barbara said. 'The Power of Life Cycle Assessment is a blueprint for responsible, future-oriented organisations aiming to make a positive impact on our planet and succeed sustainably.'
The book also includes advice on how to:
- incorporate LCA into the sustainability strategy of a product, service or technology
- understand the various LCA approaches so you can choose the one that is the most useful for your organisation
- identify pitfalls to avoid.
The book was published by the American Center for Life Cycle Assessment and has chapters by Barbara Nebel, Laurie Wright, James Fava (the ‘father of modern-day LCA’), Sarah Jordaan, Mike Levy, Shelly Severinghaus and Endong Wang.
